Ian and I have been speaking independently to the team at Xmind. They’re keen to use openEHR as part of a series of case studies about their clients and to that end, they’ve written a short article about how Ian - predominantly - uses their mind-map software.
So far so good.
They also would like to put together a longer piece including testimonials from more openEHR Xminders (I believe @siljelb , @Lars_Fuhrmann and @yampeku are also frequent users - anybody else?). We’re hoping to secure something in return from Xmind, whether that’s openEHR membership, a discount for openEHR users, a bespoke package which facilitates modelling specifically…
So if you have specific feedback about Xmind - why it works, why it’s better than other commerical products out there, perhaps how it could be improved - and you’d like to get involved, drop me a line or leave your comments here.
I’m aiming to get this done post-EHRCON26, so no great rush.

Apologies in advance if my memory is wrong, and corrections are most welcome, but I think @heather.leslie led the use of mindmaps for openEHR modelling. I’d suggest asking for her input as well.; she’s been using the approach for a long time.
I meant what I said btw, correct me if I’m wrong. Correct attribution matters.
The tool itself is nice, but in my view, the problem is their data model which is not published and can and has been changed in the past so that direct generation of mind maps for archetypes etc. in their proprietary format is risky. And with one of their latest versions (and such a format change) they have killed their freemind import except for some very basic things.
I did mention that issue re documentation to Peter when I spoke to him, and it might be one othe things we can persuade Xmind to improve, with our open standards credentials. Though to be fair, Claude did a very good job of interrogating the current file format and generating a valid Xmind file from a pdf.
@Seref - absolutely @heather.leslie was absolutely the pioneer in using mindmaps. We orginally used a different tool but Xmind was (at that time) open source and free (ish!).
That would be good indeed. You can figure it out for sure with or without Claude, but that doesn’t help you when they change it whenever they feel like it.
For me to endorse it in any way, I think a decent import and export to an open, documented and stable format (or xmind format fulfilling this directly) is a prerequisite.
