Change of role

Dear All,

After 9 years as CEO of Ocean Informatics I have stepped down from the role to be replaced by Dr. Hugh Leslie. Hugh has been Medical Director of Ocean for the past decade and a key member of the Ocean Executive. He has a wealth of experience as a software provider and working with the Tier 1 system integrators. He is an Australian representative to HL7 and has overseen the development of Ocean’s openEHR Template Designer. His skill in oversight of the implementation projects involving Ocean products has been evident and, with increasing emphasis on larger scale implementations at Ocean, Hugh will bring a wealth of skills and experience to the CEO position.

I have been on the Ocean Informatics Board from the outset and will now become the Chair of the Board, replacing Dr David Rowed whom many of you will know from his ongoing work at HL7 and Standards Australia. I will remain involved at a project level using my openEHR and academic skills to assist in implementation work but will not take a role in the executive, concentrating on strategy and effectiveness.

This will give me time to concentrate on the bigger picture and the trajectory of the openEHR Foundation. It is definitely time for openEHR to take a larger role in the world of eHealth. I look forward to working with you all as we move to the next phase, particularly as we get industry and government support for the key roles of the Foundation.

Dear Sam,

Thank you for communicating this important evolution of leadership and of your role in Ocean.
