New Co-Chairs of Management Board

Dear All

The openEHR Foundation has begun operating as a non-profit organisation. We now have a Management Board with four members. Ian McNicoll and Koray Atalag were elected by the subscribed members and Tomaz Gornik and Rong Chen were elected by the Industry Partners. We have a Board of Governors, chaired by Prof. David Ingram, which formally delegates operational decisions to the Management Board and ensures that the organisation operates within its legal requirements and maximises benefit to those using the openEHR method.

The Management Board is meeting weekly and is working on strategies and activities that will support the openEHR community and our collective work. This Board has two Co-Chairs - Ian McNicoll and Tomaz Gornik. Thomas Beale has been invited to attend the Management Board meetings and I will attend as a member of the Board of Governors and liaise with that Board. Voting on decisions at the Management Board remains the prerogative of the elected Members.

Due to the investment by subscribed members and Industry Partners the openEHR Foundation is now in the financial position to proceed with developments that will aid uptake and implementation of the openEHR specifications and archetypes or clinical models. The Management Board is planning to send minutes to subscribed members weekly and to have a monthly summary for the list. The Management Board Co-Chairs will be writing to you soon on the changes they have made and the work that they want to prioritise. The collective presence at Medinfo in Sao Paulo is one such priority.

I hope people and companies will continue to join the Foundation and that we will see educational and other opportunities for members and Industry Partners in the near future.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Sam Heard
