CIMI Meeting next week in London

Hi everyone,

A quick update from me personally. There is a meeting of the Clinical Information Modelling Initiative led by Stan Huff from Intermountain next week in London to firm up the preferred option for the primary clinical model authoring environment. A preliminary vote has been held, and despite some strong lobbying from Europe by some small interest groups, openEHR ADL is on the table with UML as the two most popular candidates.

This is no mean feat, and regardless of the outcome next week, I would like to thank everyone who has been working with us over the years and helped the Foundation and community to get to this point. Thomas Beale obviously deserves a lot of the thanks for hanging in there despite years of very slow progress – we will all be indebted to him one day!

I personally hope the Foundation can join efforts with other interested parties who see things much as we do and work together to take this effort to the next level.

There will be a number of people at the meeting next week who will be carrying the banner for the community:

· Prof. David Ingram (UCL/openEHR Board)

· Thomas Beale (Ocean/ADL conveynor)

· Ian McNicoll (Ocean/openEHR Board)

· Prof. Dipak Kalra (UCL/openEHR Board)

Please contact them if you have any particular insights or strong opinions about the process, or write to the clinical list. Lets hope there is a positive outcome next week for Health Informatics and that ADL gets a good look in!

Thanks to everyone again,

Sam

Thanks Lemuel,

I hope you are right!

Cheers, Sam
