Dear all,
The Observation Archetype: Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite (EPIC) [openEHR Clinical Knowledge Manager] archetype is ready for publication. It has been on one review round, which has been on hold for almost a year in anticipation of work to be done in the PROM workgroup. That work has stalled, but there seems to be some agreement on the main question related this archetype about the use of long element names, which are true to the validated tool, to be the preferred way to name the elements.
In the review, editor feedback on the issues raised by reviewers on this topic and related issues in the work group is as follows:
This archetype has been in ‘Review suspended’ status for almost a year, due to the work in PROM work group has stalled. But as central participants in that group has indicated that long element names are acceptable, long element names will prevail. To divide the archetype into domain subgroups should be handled in the user interface, not the design of the archetype. Changing from DV_ORDINAL to DV_SCALE will not be necessary for this archetype, as there are no decimal numbers to score. Introducing DV_SCALE in general will also have implications on the user interface, and need to be discussed further in the PROM workgroup at some later time.
In order to proceed towards publication without further delay, the CKAs and modelling experts from Norway recommend the archetype to be published in its present state.
The editors kindly requests anyone opposing this to start a discussion in the archetype’s Discussion feature or make a Change Request, in time for the planned publication on 3rd of October 2025.
On behalf of the editors,
Vebjørn Arntzen
