PHICON National Personal Health Record Program

PHICON is in the process of the development and implementation of a state of the art Portable Personal Health Record () System. The PHICON- will form the bases of the PHICON National Personal Health Record Program for all Americans.

With a shift in the healthcare sector towards an automated and paperless environment, it has become increasingly necessary for everyone to develop and maintain an electronic version of their medical records.

Disasters such as Hurricane Katrina showed that not having such a record could be very detrimental to ones healthcare. Katrina refugees for instance, had to repeat medical exams and critical lab tests in order to re-diagnose chronic medical conditions simply because some patients did not remember or know pertinent details of their medical history.

For some patients below certain income guidelines, the PHICON- will be a free service. Most Americans will however have their medical records stored and maintained for a very small monthly fee!

In principle, the PHICON- will negate the need to complete medical histories every time patients consult with a new physician or medical facility.

The PHICON- will also facilitate quicker treatments in emergency situations as critical tests do not need to be repeated thus increasing the likelihood of better clinical outcomes and survival. Generally speaking, the quality of healthcare will be exponentially improved when an individual retains a personal health record.

The initial business goals of the ?PHICON National Personal Health Record Project? is to store, update and maintain the Personal Health Record of 10% of all Americans by . (35 Million Americans)

Hi Anthony

There are many doing this. An even greater round of fragmentation is about to descend on health care with dozens of new proprietary formats. Lock in for patients will be about the value add and the cost of moving to another environment through loss of data and information. But only a standard EHR will really empower the end user. If something is state of the art today then I believe it should be using a non-proprietary health record and contributing to this development!

Cheers, Sam

And non proprietary health record content specification in the two level modelling approach.
