new openEHR website

The new page is looking very nice!

When accessing from mobile clients (phones etc) the “read more…” links are small, make the headers and images clickable and leading to the same target as the “read more…” links.

Regarding logotype, has it been discussed with the community yet? I think that might be a good idea.

  1. I’d like to see a big Search box which have an option to allow searching into different sources such as website itself, specs, discussion lists and wiki separately. I hugely benefit from digging into discussion lists and wiki but have to go to different pages to do it. It’d be good to get everything in one place.

Great Idea. Google Site search http://www.google.com/enterprise/search/products_gss.html might be helpful in different configurations. The box on the main page should probably default to searching all openEHR resources (specs, wiki, list archives etc) and an “advanced search” could be available if filtering is requested.

  1. Talking about Programs – I think the intention to keep all content here on this Web. However thinking about Localisation Program each Chapter will I think want to have its own Web – did we agree on a uniform domain name format? E.g. a subdomain: http://nz.openehr.org or sub-folder http://openehr.org/nz or different domain: http://openehr.org.nz

Whatever you do, try to avoid registering new openehr top domains (like http://openehr.org.nz) instead use http://nz.openehr.org - that could be redirected either to dedicated servers or to a part of the existing site (including wiki sections) the /nz variant is also an option of course.

Could we host the “source-code” for the web (HTML etc) at GitHub? That way anybody could suggest and implement improvements (without us having to register users, granting permissions etc) and then let the webmaster pull the changes into the live website if/when appropriate.

P.s. Is the “For discussions about the openEHR web presence.” <openehr-web@openehr.org> list active still? I am cc-ing this discussion to it since it seems to be what that list was intended for…

we tested on an iPad, seems pretty good there. We’ll have a look on my android phone and on an iPhone… I probably wouldn’t want to compromise the experience on normal devices (iPad/tablet and up) for the sake of phone screens though… maybe there needs to be some dynamic element to change fonts? We can do some research… not yet. The board seems to have ‘chosen’ that horrible ‘openEHR + globe’ logo thing on the Foundation website - looks like a transport company to me - as an ‘interim’ logo. I think an ‘interim’ logo is just trouble - there are so many resources and docs out there with the current orange+blue ‘openEHR’ symbol that changing all that, only to be changed again in a few months time will just drive everyone nuts. I think a community contest of some kind would be fun. The page as you see it today has no logo at all, just a bit of graphics and a slogan to the right (which we just made up yesterday - that is also up for grabs). ok - sounds like we need some help on how to make all that work. Expect some further questions  yes that’s my preference as well. In any case, unless openEHR Foundation buys up all the domains, it’s hard to control them anyway. Probably in most cases, decent people get them and do something purely local with them. yes, I’m getting around to that  it is currently dead. We moved only the core lists over to the new provider. At the moment Ocean is paying all the fees for that so we had to limit it a bit. So for right now, we probably should create a new google group or just stick with email. So finally - have a look at the Specification program area for how we populated that content, and think about content for the other programs. If you want a bunch of HTML templates we can provide them, otherwise just plaintext, Word, anything is fine. - thomas
