Is there an archetype to record the gender identity in the demographic model?

Hi,

In the CKM I’ve found an EVALUATION archetype for gender identity, but not the gender identity as a demographic concept.

We are working with patients and the demographic model and G.I. is a requirement for us.

For now I’ll use our own archetype, though it would be nice to use an international one.

I can’t find anything other than ‘Sex’ which is different, being sex at birth.

These are very old archetypes based on the ISO demographics standard. I’m not sure if that has been updated in this area.

A local archetype is probably wise, especially as tis i, of course a very complex and fraught area, where local requirements and policy probably play a large part

Thanks @ian.mcnicoll

I think the nail requirement is the identity code, which can have different value sets depending on the location. In my case, I’m following a national FHIR guide. So technically the archetype shouldn’t have a terminology binded, but the template does.

Another requirement that I’ve seen is the pronouns. I don’t know if there is any standard for that, though I guess it’s based on language, so options should be finite and constant (I don’t think someone will invent a new pronoun).

Best,

Pablo.

We do record pronouns using the Gender archetype in London UCP but decided not to have any sort of fixed or example valueset

It’s that a demographic archetype or the evaluation one?

Evaluation …. It is just single text element

Gotcha, we need a similar thing but in the demographic model because we consider this isn’t EHR data.

You could extend the existing DEMOGRAPHIC archetype Cluster Archetype: Extended personal demographics [openEHR Clinical Knowledge Manager] and submit as a CR, or fork locally.

Sure, I’ll try to contribute. Thanks.

While not exactly super common, it certainly happens: Neopronoun - Wikipedia
