Among openEHR standard compliant platforms, what is the common strategy to handle patient identity management when sharing medical records in order to reduce mismatch, duplication, clinical trial candidate matching, …
What is the current most logical standard practices for (openEHR) administrators/community to handle patient matching issues if it involves sharing patient records between openEHR platforms and propriety EMR platforms?
Is there a role EMPI can play to assist this process (identity matching) within the openEHR standard regime? Or openEHR standard has a special build-in mechanism to handle this matching issue?

part of the answer is to have what we call an EHR Index service - see in the Service Model overview. That is implemented by some of the platform vendors, but not yet officially standardised among them. See section 7 for more technical detail. The ids stored in this kind of service are normally ones from an MPI, but could be from anywhere.
