# openEHR & HL7: Converge or Collide? **Category:** [openEHR news](https://discourse.openehr.org/c/openehr-news/9) **Created:** 2025-02-17 11:14 UTC **Views:** 844 **Replies:** 43 **URL:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/openehr-hl7-converge-or-collide/6337 --- ## Post #1 by @Pete_Bouvier ![image|690x360, 50%](upload://uIYHN561BSFnQelIC096g7AOCz3.png) **What:** Joint Event between openEHR / HL7 FHIR, max. 50 attendees **When:** 2-3 June 2025 **Where:** Amsterdam, Netherlands On June 2nd and 3rd 2025, members from openEHR and HL7 communities who have been working on both FHIR and openEHR will come together for an exclusive event in Amsterdam. The sessions will advance discussions on how the two communities can work together to improve healthcare data exchange across the globe. The event will be interactive and action-oriented, to look at the common areas of collaboration and in view of this, will be limited to 50 places including those who are already part of the formal working groups. If you’re already working on both openEHR and FHIR and you can be part of this collaborative effort to shape the global healthcare standards landscape, please register your interest detailing the value you can bring to this unprecedented event. In your registration, please explain why you should attend – what you have to contribute. Places are limited, so please express your interest [here](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdYTiMSqVXIqaPqXjtPFKuG-O9kYWyVuJSm5Wkpa16EVYiKcw/viewform). There will be a notional charge to help the organisers cover costs, however this will be kept to a minimum. We understand that there will be a lot of interest and in view of the limited numbers, a debrief on progress will be provided at the [FHIR Dev days](https://www.devdays.com/program-2025/), where those who are unable to attend can catch up on the progress. --- ## Post #2 by @pablo I would love to participate, though I'm a little far away from the location. Is there any chance to assist remotely? --- ## Post #3 by @ciprian I am in a similar situation, I would like to participate remotely. --- ## Post #4 by @Abi Unfortunately remote participation won't be available for this event, however the community will be debriefed on relevant developments afterward. --- ## Post #5 by @George Is it possible for our company to send two delegates to this event? --- ## Post #6 by @Abi Hi George, Both members can register their interest via the application, but places are limited, so we cannot guarantee attendance. --- ## Post #7 by @ciprian Hi, is it possible to apply and, in case of not being able to attend, to retract the application? Is there a deadline in such a case? I might have an event collision in this period of time. --- ## Post #8 by @Pete_Bouvier I'm sure that will be fine. We're expecting a lot of interest so there'll be a reserve list, but the sooner you can let us know, the better. :+1: --- ## Post #9 by @ciprian Yes, a timely answer/retraction is understandable, other people have to plan their time, too. Thank you very much for the prompt answer. --- ## Post #10 by @grahamegrieve Hey all, reminder about this. Registrations of interest close on Friday Mar 28, and you'll hear back from us soon after that (us = Rachel and I) --- ## Post #11 by @Basil_Bekdash Not directly involved but very interested to bring a perhaps "external perspective on things I've been quite keenly considering! Appreciate space is limited I will need to rejig some clinical activity but that is very doable with some notice. --- ## Post #12 by @Abi Thanks Basil - Expressions of interest are open until 30 March, you can submit yours here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rKAkP6cq40OkdHmXolGWVvzElQTZLb-6k21I0w1Y3bQ/edit --- ## Post #13 by @richard.kavanagh Many thanks for accepting my application to attend. It did help for people we didn’t know at all - some surprises there, and knowing who should know a person helped Grahame --- ## Post #17 by @yampeku feel free to reuse  ![imagen|467x335](upload://7QePXOnVbZRykKxzhXnWr9ah7UY.jpeg) --- ## Post #18 by @Daniel.Alomar This is a drawing based on a scene from the film "Predator" --- ## Post #19 by @grahamegrieve this picture of the arm wrrestling is Rachel and I? --- ## Post #20 by @richard.kavanagh I'll bring my alter ego ![openEHR_FHIR|333x500](upload://c8t5hJnZ2RbOZX3t635tGFlxWxI.jpeg) --- ## Post #21 by @Seref I was going to go with this one, gender neutral too ![image|690x460](upload://1BLilOimPlfEfT9H5uW6U4RLG8S.jpeg) --- ## Post #22 by @yampeku It is! little known fact is that their tshirts had the logos already :grimacing: --- ## Post #23 by @Seref Truly historic btw, very much looking forward to seeing everyone there. --- ## Post #24 by @grahamegrieve Carumba, Seref, I'm afraid to come now after looking at that picture --- ## Post #25 by @Daniel.Alomar ![Image1|690x460](upload://68KDd9cfRP5AxHsrTuN0z2ZfZAz.jpeg) ![Image2|690x460](upload://vqiO5XaELQF7mkxjHGsPiMfJZFB.jpeg) ![Image3|690x460](upload://tuxsdWrHu369NSU2fq3Eb9e91zC.jpeg) --- ## Post #26 by @John_Farenden Can't make your mind up ? ![image|500x500](upload://snDamNwJOAJVgtpH41iVKlbXsGJ.jpeg) --- ## Post #27 by @ukpenguin Game on @grahamegrieve (I better start doing some training ) Very much looking forward to seeing you all there. ![Gemini_Generated_Image_r3vifzr3vifzr3vi|500x500](upload://vikgiNgokZBzjX4GRCmQYqqTSRx.jpeg) --- ## Post #28 by @ukpenguin Diego ..... the wonderful @Pete_Bouvier has dreamed up the t-shirt design --- ## Post #29 by @John_Farenden ![image|333x500](upload://pKliVHV92qW29pNXjWyvNWYSSeP.jpeg) --- ## Post #30 by @Seref
Carumba, Seref, I’m afraid to come now after looking at that picture
That's the opposite of my intention! They're both very cool to a sci-fi nerd and having them together is a thing of beauty, though I must admit their inner beauty takes some effort to see  --- ## Post #31 by @Pete_Bouvier Yes.... but I'm rethinking things now. @yampeku gets my vote! --- ## Post #32 by @yampeku Sure thing! But seems like it will need to be a strong penguin to stay on theme ![imagen|462x500](upload://qFcDo0YeRjYcSxatVQE22pOhRtb.jpeg) --- ## Post #33 by @heather.leslie Why are we running with a strength, power, competition theme here? These memes aren't representing me or why I'm here. I'm here for the collaboration and improving outcomes. H --- ## Post #34 by @Pete_Bouvier Ah well said! --- ## Post #35 by @yampeku I've always seen the two arms picture as "stronger together" and "collaboration", not competition. At least that's the meaning in the movie. I can see other ones giving other impression --- ## Post #36 by @Pete_Bouvier Yeah - that scene.... they're not actually arm-wrestling: it's two old friends meeting up again. Little bit of tension and a show of strength perhaps, but it was a good call! Plus, Arnie's character's name is 'Dutch'. Amazing synergy. --- ## Post #37 by @Pete_Bouvier Year of the Penguin. :penguin: --- ## Post #38 by @bna I have finally managed to find two people from DIPS to participate. One from FHIR and the other one openEHR committer. I hope there are a two seats available for us. Who can I contact? --- ## Post #39 by @Seref
Who can I contact?
I'd suggest events <|~youknowhat~|> openehr.org --- ## Post #40 by @Abi Hi Bjorn. The closing date for applications was 30 March and there is currently a waiting list for places. Just a gentle suggestion from someone who woke up some Aussies quite a few times 😆 --- ## Post #43 by @joostholslag
There’s emerging plans to have informal dinner together on Sunday June 1st.
Ok here's the poll, please vote 'me!' if you'd like me to reserve for you. Location to follow. I've made enquiries at '[Brouwerij Troost De Pijp](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Kg7HkAEAKRQTNKsu7?g_st=ic)'. If not, it will probably be another location in central Amsterdam that's easy to get to from Amsterdam South train station. Time wise I'm thinking 6 or 7 pm local. With maybe some drinks before, potentially at the same place. It will be at your own cost. [poll type=multiple results=always min=1 max=2 public=true chartType=bar close=2025-05-29T13:00:00.000Z] # Will you join a casual dinner Sunday night June 1st in Amsterdam. * Me! * Not me. [/poll] Please respond by Wednesday 28th. --- ## Post #44 by @richard.kavanagh Thanks for organising - I'll be getting in too late for dinner, so I'll have to pass on the offer. --- **Canonical:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/openehr-hl7-converge-or-collide/6337 **Original content:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/openehr-hl7-converge-or-collide/6337
