# In-person SEC Meeting October, Berlin? **Category:** [Specifications](https://discourse.openehr.org/c/specifications/6) **Created:** 2021-07-02 16:24 UTC **Views:** 1125 **Replies:** 35 **URL:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/in-person-sec-meeting-october-berlin/1679 --- ## Post #1 by @birger.haarbrandt Hi everybody, while I'm still very occupied with lots of non-technical stuff in several contexts, I would like to get a quick feedback on a possible SEC Meeting in Berlin on October 13. The background is that we will have a HiGHmed Symposium about FHIR and openEHR and we will have some community member gather in Berlin. This might be a good occassion and I think the location in the heart of Europe is also fitting well (and Berlin is relatively easy to travel to). Please let me know what you think! --- ## Post #2 by @ian.mcnicoll Prost :beers: Prost :beers: Prost :beers: --- ## Post #3 by @bna I am ready. Flights are still quite cheap. Look forward to see you again! --- ## Post #4 by @JillRiley Can I come  Keep me posted re promo. --- ## Post #5 by @pablo Is there an agenda for the f2f SEC meetings? --- ## Post #6 by @birger.haarbrandt No, I wanted to check first if there is some appetite given the ongoing covid situation. What might be nice is a special topic meeting on AQL. What do you think, @Seref? --- ## Post #7 by @Seref I don't think the appetite can be any larger than it already is @birger.haarbrandt I'd love to do this, but we'll have to see how the Covid situation evolves. So a tentative yes from me, but I'll have to see what things will be like then, especially now that UK is just letting it all go. --- ## Post #8 by @yampeku Sounds good! --- ## Post #9 by @birger.haarbrandt Thanks all for the feedback, I think there is enough interest. I will start to move this forward. --- ## Post #10 by @bna Great Birger, I will book a flight for 12th of October to Berlin to be well prepared for our post-pandemic-face-to-face meeting. Look forward to this! --- ## Post #11 by @birger.haarbrandt Yes, October 13 is now fixed and we should surely have a more informal meeting on the day before in the evening :) --- ## Post #12 by @bna I booked an early flight (arrival 0930) on the 12th and will be ready for informal connections most of the day. That's an invitation to other participants to come early to Berlin! :-) --- ## Post #13 by @ian.mcnicoll Do you have any rough idea of likely event(s) location? Time to get a hotel and travel booked!! --- ## Post #14 by @Seref @birger.haarbrandt I'll second @ian.mcnicoll 's question. (There is a critical delivery in October I need to see through, still trying to make this one happen as well) Location? full timeframe? 12-13[14?] --- ## Post #15 by @birger.haarbrandt Hi Seref, we are currently planning one day for the meeting (October 13) and the next day we will have the openEHR & FHIR symposium. I'm currently checking options for the location. For the invited speakers, there is a hotel in "Berlin Mitte" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitte_(locality)) and my goal is to have a location that is quite central and close to Berlin Central Station. So if you book a hotel nearby, you should be fine. --- ## Post #16 by @Seref Thanks Birger. --- ## Post #17 by @ian.mcnicoll I think I might stick at Tiergarten - has nice memories and not too far out of the centre --- ## Post #18 by @varntzen So.... who is the person you will have the SEC meeting in? I'll find the way out myself. Thank you. --- ## Post #19 by @birger.haarbrandt Registration is now open for the symposium: as seats are fairly limited (<50!) due to COVID restrictions, please make sure to register right away if you plan to come to Berlin and attend the symposium on October 14! https://www.highmed-symposium.de/ @matijap @pieterbos @thomas.beale @Seref @jake.smolka @sebastian.garde @erik.sundvall @yampeku @rong.chen @sebastian.iancu --- ## Post #20 by @yampeku done, I still have to book everything, but I will be there  --- ## Post #21 by @Seref @birger.haarbrandt thanks for this. I did register. My situation is fluctuating a bit, but I'm hoping to be there in person. I'll cancel in-person attendance later if I cannot make it. Best I can do at the moment :( Hoping to be there. --- ## Post #22 by @JillRiley Detail on the [website](https://openehr.org/news_events/events/344) @birger.haarbrandt but won't promote just yet to give SEC chance to book. --- ## Post #23 by @yampeku I have booked hotel and flight! I'm arriving the 12th too :D --- ## Post #24 by @pieterbos I will arrive the 12th in the afternoon by train. Together with @joostholslag, who is there for the symposium, not the SEC meeting. --- ## Post #25 by @sebastian.garde I'll also arrive on the 12th in the afternoon by train. Very much looking forward to this meeting. --- ## Post #26 by @birger.haarbrandt Just to let you know: my colleague at vitagroup is kindly taking care of booking a venue. I will let you know (likely next week) once I know the exact location. --- ## Post #27 by @ian.mcnicoll Hotels and flights booked - arriving on the 12th, covid willing. --- ## Post #28 by @joostholslag How about some beer on the evening of the 12th? Or are plans already made for that? --- ## Post #29 by @ian.mcnicoll Good idea but the Germans have no idea how to brew beer, other than in Dusseldorf - we can ask @sebastian.garde to bring some bottles with him. I arrive mid-afternoon so - yes  --- ## Post #30 by @sebastian.garde Isn’t German beer lukewarm enough for you then, Ian? To be fair, there’s good Bavarian beer as well. But don’t drink *Berliner Weiße* if you can avoid it. --- ## Post #31 by @yampeku Count me in for the beer too  --- ## Post #32 by @erik.sundvall Hi! Karolinska University hospital (where I now work) still have rules in place restricting non-essential travel, so I'll join the SEC meeting remotely, not physically. @patrikgh will likely join the Highmed event physically as a speaker though, so make sure to take good care of him in Berlin  --- ## Post #33 by @birger.haarbrandt Hi Erik, we make sure that the room will allow for online participation :) Really happy that Patrik will attend in person! --- ## Post #34 by @thomas.beale I believe I will make it in time for afternoon beers. Since some are being picky, I will be very happy to take up the slack and drink anything dark, cold, and German. --- ## Post #35 by @birger.haarbrandt Dear all, we reserved the following location: Chausseestraße 86 | 10115 Berlin (Mitte) https://meeet.de/raum/berlin-mitte/work-arbeitsraum/ --- ## Post #36 by @joostholslag The proposal is to meet 17.30 at the Hackescher markt. https://openehrspecs.slack.com/archives/C2BU3LQ4D/p1634043777040400?thread_ts=1634034385.033300&channel=C2BU3LQ4D&message_ts=1634043777.040400 --- **Canonical:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/in-person-sec-meeting-october-berlin/1679 **Original content:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/in-person-sec-meeting-october-berlin/1679
