# ADL Workbench exceptions when opening the audiogram archetype **Category:** [Technical (archive)](https://discourse.openehr.org/c/technical-archive/156) **Created:** 2016-06-14 04:15 UTC **Views:** 4 **Replies:** 6 **URL:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/adl-workbench-exceptions-when-opening-the-audiogram-archetype/14334 --- ## Post #1 by @pablo Hi, I downloaded the ADLWB Windows (32-bit) 2.0.6.2844 from [http://www.openehr.org/downloads/ADLworkbench/home](http://www.openehr.org/downloads/ADLworkbench/home) And downloaded the audiogram result archetype from here: [http://ckm.openehr.org/ckm/#showArchetype_1013.1.44](http://ckm.openehr.org/ckm/#showArchetype_1013.1.44) That archetype has some validity warnings and I wanted to see those warnings using the ADLWB, but when I tried to open the archetype, the ADLWB throws: ******************************** Thread exception ***************************** In thread Root thread 0x0 (thread id) --- ## Post #2 by @pablo I get this from adl_workbench_2.0.5-windows_32bit.exe (previously tried v2.0.6). BTW, the archetype opens correctly in the AE. ******************************** Thread exception ***************************** In thread Root thread 0x0 (thread id) --- ## Post #3 by @system Pablo, I suggest you try the newer [Windows (64-bit) 2.0.6.2902 build](http://www.openehr.org/downloads/ADLworkbench/home). To access CKM archetypes, all you need to do is to follow the [instructions here ](http://www.openehr.org/downloads/ADLworkbench/obtaining_archetypes)for the CKM-mirror repository, and the ADL WB will check the whole repo out via Git (which you need to have findable on the machine). If you have any further problems, please report them on the [adl-tools Git project issue tracker](https://github.com/openEHR/adl-tools/issues). thanks - thomas --- ## Post #4 by @pablo From that version ([Windows (64-bit) 2.0.6.2902 build](http://www.openehr.org/downloads/ADLworkbench/home)) I get this exception opening the same archetype downloaded from the CKM ([http://ckm.openehr.org/ckm/#showArchetype_1013.1.44](http://ckm.openehr.org/ckm/#showArchetype_1013.1.44)) It sees none of these versions I tested can open this archetype. Might be an issue with the archetype itself or with the CKM export. But as I said, the archetype is opened OK in the Archetype Editor. I'm blocked here :) What I do is: File > Open (select 1.4) > Select the openEHR-EHR-OBSERVATION.audiogram.v1.adl archetype > Exception is thrown ******************************** Thread exception ***************************** In thread Root thread 0x0 (thread id) --- ## Post #5 by @system Pablo, I'll look into what is going wrong there, but that's not the normal way to use the Workbench to look at CKM archetypes (it's still a bug obviously;). It will work if you follow the [instructions here](http://www.openehr.org/downloads/ADLworkbench/obtaining_archetypes) - then you can look at all CKM archetypes. - thomas --- ## Post #6 by @pablo Thanks Thomas, I would say that is a common use case when you are creating archetypes, since the validation rules are not in the AE, I create the adl using AE but see the validation errors on the ADLWB. Also, I would consider not everyone has git installed. Think of a modeling workshop with doctors :) Considering that, I would say we need the File > Open to work for prototyping, testing and training. --- ## Post #7 by @system Hi Pablo, even if it is for archetypes not in Git, it is still better to create a 'repository' and within that a 'library' containing the archetypes you work on - that's the normal working approach. I agree that the ad hoc 'Open' function should always work - can you raise an issue on the adl-tools Git tracker? I'll need some details on whether you had any repositories configured (I suspect you don't, and I've never tested that situation, it's probably the problem). thanks - thomas --- **Canonical:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/adl-workbench-exceptions-when-opening-the-audiogram-archetype/14334 **Original content:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/adl-workbench-exceptions-when-opening-the-audiogram-archetype/14334
