# 2025 - "The Archetypes" - openEHR Conference Band **Category:** [General Discussion](https://discourse.openehr.org/c/general-discussion/132) **Created:** 2024-09-15 18:50 UTC **Views:** 345 **Replies:** 23 **URL:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/2025-the-archetypes-openehr-conference-band/5712 --- ## Post #1 by @marcusbaw Hi all, With our 1st International openEHR Conference coming up soon, it has been suggested that we could potentially put together a small live band from the openEHR Community (or that part of the community who can make it to the Conference!) We have a few people interested, and we can facilitate bringing some of the equipment needed. It's looking like we will have microhones, mixer, a digital piano, a PA system, and some guitar amplifiers. It's unlikely that we will get to rehearse, so it will likely be somewhat 'ramshackle', but I reckon if we have a few people who are able to read from chord charts/lyric sheets, we might just get away with it. If interested, reply below with some info about what instrument you'd be playing, and I'll add you to the private message we have going for planning what were doing. --- ## Post #2 by @Pete_Bouvier Playlist suggestions... * “Doctor! Doctor!” - The Thompson Twins * “The EHR that I breathe” - The Hollies * "Let me stand next to your FHIR" - Jimi Hendrix Any more? --- ## Post #3 by @marcusbaw Thanks for bumping the thread @Pete_Bouvier I've no idea what sort of material we will end up doing, hopefully not all of it will be pun based! Hoping we might get more interest in terms of musicians available? Singers? Drummers? Bass players? --- ## Post #4 by @erik.sundvall
* “Doctor! Doctor!” - The Thompson Twins * “The EHR that I breathe” - The Hollies * “Let me stand next to your FHIR” - Jimi Hendrix Any more?
Into The Open Air.
Just to update the community, we have had a bit more time to put together some planning for the musical session at the Conference. We are going to style it a little more like an 'open mic night' type of thing, rather than trying to put together a polished set. We will have a 'backing band' **The Archetypes** composed of @Pete_Bouvier (drums/cajon), @xabiermichelena (piano/keys/vocals), @johnmeredith (guitar), and me @marcusbaw (guitar/vocals), and we will have a few numbers we can jam out together. But we'd really like it if anyone else at the conference wanted to jump up and sing a couple of numbers, or play something. You can play solo or we in the band can back you. I will be bringing equipment (PA, various guitars, microphones, etc) which you will all be welcome to use as I know some people may be coming quite a distance and it would be impractical to pack your guitar! --- ## Post #8 by @johngrant4est Happy to take a turn on keys if there's a space. I can hold a tune on BVs but that's about it. --- ## Post #9 by @marcusbaw Just a little update for this thread post-Conference to say that we did a great little 'open mic' session in which we managed to play about a dozen tunes, with a range of players, and it was great! @xabiermichelena - piano and vocals @johnmeredith - acoustic guitar and vocals @Sam did a turn on acoustic and singing @thomas.beale and @Sam had a little acoustic jam afterwards @Jaime and @Pete_Bouvier played cajón @marcusbaw (me) on guitar and vocals It wasn't super tight, having had no real opportunity for rehearsal, but we definitely cemented the idea of an OpenEHR Conference Band for the future and I think now that people 'get' what it is like, we might have more takers for joining in, in the future. Next year we should definitely do the same again, and of course if we have others willing to play that would be amazing! We don't yet know where next year's conference will be, but we will aim to support people travelling a long way by supplying instruments where we can. --- ## Post #10 by @yampeku It was really great! I personally had a blast  --- ## Post #11 by @Jaime It was great. When I first saw the post about the band, I had my doubts -I even had a draft written as a reply to that post- and decided not to take active part. Now I want in next year, no hesitation. We'll definitely be in touch --- ## Post #12 by @xabiermichelena It was amazing! Thanks for leading it @marcusbaw! --- ## Post #13 by @ian.mcnicoll Absolutely brilliant. I'm glad you found a much better drummer than I could ever have offered!! From an audience perspective, I thought it came over incredibly well and it was difficult to believe and it all come together a bit randomly. Maybe next year I can bring my triangle!! --- ## Post #14 by @Pete_Bouvier I don’t care where it is next year - I’m bringing the drum kit! --- ## Post #15 by @xabiermichelena yeaaaaah! let's make some noise! --- ## Post #16 by @Seref Whichever the next conference I attend, I assure you that I'll make the biggest musical contribution amongst you. By not singing. There are many ways to achieve Zen. --- ## Post #17 by @birger.haarbrandt Inspiring post, much appreciated! --- ## Post #18 by @Koray_Atalag It was truly amazing. Hats off to the whole band ❤️❤️❤️ --- ## Post #19 by @Jaime *clears throat* --- ## Post #20 by @marcusbaw We will definitely be doing another musical ensemble at the next conference. Now that people have seen roughly how it works I'm hoping we might be able to persuade a range of people to get up and do a turn, supported by a 'house band' type of thing. So if you just want to sing something then let us know and we may be able to give you a live backing band for it. PLEASE no more EHR puns though  --- ## Post #21 by @marcusbaw An update for the community on our plans for the openEHR Conference Band for EHCON25 (Barcelona 2025) - we're definitely going for a similar musical event to round off the evening after the conference dinner. Anyone who's interested in joining in, please comment on this thread or PM/DM me here with what you would like to do. The so-far confirmed core members of the band are me (guitar/vocals) and @xabiermichelena (piano/keyboards/vocals). We formed the core of the band last year and can support others with guitar and piano backing. The more advance notice we get of what you might like to play/sing, the better you are going to sound! So don't delay, talk to us today! The detailed timings for the evening are still being worked out, but after dinner we will set up and play for 1-1.5 hours, similar to last time, and then we'll give way to the karaoke. --- ## Post #22 by @xabiermichelena Vocals are also considered an instrument  I heard incredible voices in last year's Karaoke! --- ## Post #23 by @SevKohler @birger.haarbrandt you can play bass, go play bass for us. I can do the drums  --- ## Post #24 by @birger.haarbrandt Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to EHRcon  It’s right in the middle of school vacations in my German state. I’m a little sad right now --- **Canonical:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/2025-the-archetypes-openehr-conference-band/5712 **Original content:** https://discourse.openehr.org/t/2025-the-archetypes-openehr-conference-band/5712
